Eleanor Williams

Eleanor grew up in Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire and studied saxophone and piano at Junior Guildhall in London. She graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with First-Class Honours in 2025 and is now based in Manchester. Eleanor is a versatile musician who enjoys performing in a range of styles and genres and has appeared at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Buonconsiglio Castle in Italy, and Palmela Castle in Portugal.

On soprano saxophone and clarinet she performed Glassworks with musicians from the Hallé to a sold out audience as part of the Hallé Philip Glass Festival. She recently headlined Buckle and Boots Festival with the Country Orchestra playing flute and alto saxophone. As a soloist Eleanor has performed the alto saxophone solo in Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dances with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Mark Elder, Ronald Binge's Concerto for Saxophone with the Watford School of Music Youth Orchestra, and Ernest Tomlinson's Concerto for Five Saxophones with the Promenade Concert Orchestra, giving the first full performance of the work since 1966.

Eleanor has played soprano saxophone in the Solasta Saxophone Quartet since their formation in 2022. In 2024 they won the RNCM Fewkes Woodwind Chamber Prize, the June Emerson Launchpad Prize, and won the audience vote in the Christopher Rowland Chamber Ensemble of the Year Award. Eleanor also plays alto saxophone in the Insieme Saxophone Quartet which has performed as part of the popular Candlelight Concert series in venues such as Hallé St Peter's, Manchester Cathedral and Leeds City Museum.
